X-ray Ultrasound

Lucky Vet Clinic is proud to offer state-of-the-art Digital Radiology Services. Traditional x-rays use photographic film to capture images whereas digital x-rays use a digital image capture device (computer) to record the x-ray image. There are many advantages to digital x-rays including a shorter time to take the x-ray, lack of chemicals needed to process an x-ray and less radiation exposure to your pet and veterinarian. These x-rays can also be digitally enhanced for best visualization of a problem. Digital x-rays can easily be copied to disk, magnified or sent to a specialist for evaluation at the press of a button. Ask our staff or veterinarians if you have questions about digital x-rays.

We offer routine radiology services. X-rays are used to help our veterinarian diagnose a problem or a disease in your pet. X-rays are capable of detecting arthritis, fractures, bony tumors and other forms of cancer; heart enlargement and congestive heart failure; bladder and kidney stones; stomach or intestinal foreign bodies; pneumonia and other lung diseases and much more. X-rays are part of a diagnostic work-up if your pet is having a problem or as part of a general wellness examination in an older pet to detect potential problems early

Our clinic offers ultrasound (sonogram) examinations as a non-invasive procedure to evaluate internal organs. Ultrasound can be used to examine the abdominal organs, reproductive organs, eyes and heart. Many times both radiographs (X-rays) and ultrasound of your pet are recommended for best evaluation of your pet’s problem. X-rays show the size, shape and position of the organs and the ultrasound allows your veterinarian to see the internal structure of the organs. Ultrasound is very non-invasive and well tolerated by most pets. Most pets do not require sedation or anesthesia but this depends on their temperament. The hair on the abdomen must be clipped to allow adequate visualization during ultrasound. Gel is then placed on the abdomen and the ultrasound probe is moved methodically over the surface of the abdomen to record images of each organ.

Ask our staff or veterinarians if you have any questions about our ultrasound and Radiology Services.
